Plotting? Sigh...

This was an excellent question Catherine! When I plot I get the idea for the beginning (usually the entire opening scene) and the ending. Then I literally don't have a friggen clue about what's going to happen in the several hundred pages inbetween. Sigh. Naturally editors are kinda picky about that. I hear, "That's great! But what happens in the middle?" I want to shriek that I REALLY DON'T KNOW YET! but I don't think I'd sell many books like that. So I sit down and work harder on character development...that takes me to attitudes and conflicts...which takes me to - ta da! - the dreaded middle. And I write it down really really fast in a 5 - 20 page proposal (yeah, I know, but it depends on the editor and how many books I have or haven't written for her). When I actually write the book the middle always changes. Uh, so does the end (sometimes). Hell, the beginning changes once in a while, too.

I guess you could say I write character driven plots.

Oh, I'm a pantser. Plotting ain't my thing. *g* It's rare to see me outline things.
