Just that description draws forth a reaction from me. Very positive one at that. We "feel" their power...and the descriptions of their differences always hook me. Entice me. Seduce me.
So, if that is your general direction, you have my full support as a reader. I've liked everything else I've read of yours, so I expect this idea you have to work. Not like I want to add any pressure *grin*
Go for it!!Michelehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08573730655117969888noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12904056.post-1130138309494103432005-10-24T03:18:00.000-04:002005-10-24T03:18:00.000-04:00Kelly...that's a great point. So, it makes it all the more interesting when it shows in a way that triggers the reader, but not necessarily the other characters into seeing them differently.

And Shi...I think you're right, but never thought of it that way. But how difficult would it be to hide every bit of a huge part of yourself? There are bound to be signs, even if as Kelly said...they are subconscious and definitely something the shapeshifter wouldn't want recognized.Lucy Monroehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09096091416060137796noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12904056.post-1130095518064225282005-10-23T15:25:00.000-04:002005-10-23T15:25:00.000-04:00I think it would almost have to show. the person ...I think it would almost have to show. the person isn't normal... per se.

They always show something different when I write them.Shiloh Walkerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07785046046157000126noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12904056.post-1130091638812598642005-10-23T14:20:00.000-04:002005-10-23T14:20:00.000-04:00I think a shapeshifter might intentionally hide ce...I think a shapeshifter might intentionally hide certain aspects, but that alternate form is part of who he/she is. It's very difficult to completely cut off one side of a personality, unless there is a psychological divide in the mind (e.g., the person is not aware of the shapeshifting persona). And if, in the animal shape, the person exhibits "human" traits, then how can the reverse not be true?

Ultimately, though, the issue is decided by plot and context. If the shapeshifiting ability is a curse that the person is going to be freed from, then perhaps there won't be as much crossover. However, if it is a lifetime condition, then it makes more sense that the shapeshifter displays those characteristics - it shows an acceptance of who he/she is.

Personally, I agree that it makes the character more sexy, threatening or even evil if these traits pop up.Kelli McBridehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07754245995218930400noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12904056.post-1129862039692415172005-10-20T22:33:00.000-04:002005-10-20T22:33:00.000-04:00Oooh...me too.
