THE DEMONS ARE COMING! THE DEMONS ARE COMING!

And I, for one, couldn’t be more excited. Of course, they’re MY demons, so that probably explains my excitement. I mean who else is going to be excited about demons? Okay, maybe my fellow OOTB author Julie Kenner, who also writes about demons. She’d be excited about demons too. *grin*

But my first demon hunters book, Surviving Demon Island, will be out December 26th, and I can’t wait for y'all to meet the demon hunters. They’re hot. They kick butt. And they know where the demons are and how to kill them.

I’m going to give you a little blurb about Surviving Demon Island below, and then I’ll come back in another post to talk reality shows, because that’s how this whole thing starts. I’m giving away some prizes today, too, so post to win!

And now….Surviving Demon Island, releasing from Bantam Dell December 26th:

She’s all curves and combat boots.
He’s six feet of lean, dangerous male.
Join them in a game of survival
That’s as real—and hot—as it gets
.

What’s America’s top female action star doing on a tropical island shrouded in secrecy? To Gina Bliss, competing in a survival-type reality show is a nice change from fending off on-screen villains. Until she meets real-life action hero Derek Marks. A survival specialist in a tight black T and sexy stubble, he’s arousing every bad-boy fantasy she’s ever had…and testing her survival skills to the max.

Martial arts, jungle warfare—Derek’s done it all. But his latest mission is more dangerous than a stick of dynamite. Try telling that to the sexy, adrenaline-pumped actress who’s got his libido racing off the charts. As the heat rises between them and real-life violence erupts, suddenly Derek and Gina are on the run…and when they uncover a secret so explosive it could blow the lid of their so-called reality show, these two unlikely heroes are about to discover what surviving’s really about….

On this blog post I’m giving away an autographed cover flat of Surviving Demon Island and an autographed print book of one of my current books in print. Just post a comment or question. Ask me anything, tell me anything. I’ll come back and post the winner later today!

And for other contests and fun, see my website and and my blog!

Hi Jaci,
Combat boots are my favorite footwear. Whats yours? I can't wait to read SDI. See ya in MySpace.

Jaci,

Oh, this is a book I am looking forward to! I love the whole concept of it.

If you could have one wish granted, what would it be?

One wish? That no child would ever have to go to sleep hungry, homeless, cold or lonely.

It's too darn hard to wish anything for myself. Though I do have lots of personal wishes *grin*

Thank you Danny! What a nice thing to say!

Aww Jaci, that's a great wish! I cannot stand to see a child suffer, so my own wish would be along those lines too.

If you could meet any writer past or present, who would it be?

OOhhh. That sounds really good. :)

If i could meet any writer, it would have to be Shakespeare. I've been enamored of his work my entire life.

The book sounds good. Whose your favorite actress?

Jaci Burton said...

i love Angelina Jolie, Maureen. She was actually the inspiration for the female lead in Surviving Demon Island. I think she's an amazing actress with a lot of depth, plus she does many of her own stunts in action films. She was perfect inspiration for my Gina Bliss character. :-)

Pearl - I have traveled a lot. Sometimes a lot more than I want to *g*. But I do love to travel. My favorite places have a beach and an ocean. I love warm weather.

Ellie - I love Hawaii. I've been to Maui, Kauai, and Oahu. Never been to the big island and would love to. But there's something so incredibly relaxing about Hawaii. The scenery is breathtaking, the scents of all the flowers are incredible, the ocean is mesmerizing and the sunsets are incomparable. And the humpback whales are beautiful to watch.

And the mai tais aren't bad either! *g*

darn it when is this book coming out. I can hardly wait. I love the name and the colorful cover should make for an easy find at the bookstore.

It should be at the bookstores December 26th, Pam!

Ali - I actually got the idea watching The Making of Mrs. and Mrs. Smith and watching Angelina Jolie do her own stunts. A definite 'what if?' moment. What if an actress lands on a reality show called Surviving Demon Island, and what she thinks is going on....isn't. Then I turn her world completely upside down and give it a paranormal twist.

And yes, Derek is most definitely a hunk *grin*

As far as my favorite demon book, I'm absolutely madly in love with Julie Kenner's demon hunting soccer mom series. It's light and funny and completely different than what I'm writing, which is probably why I'm so taken with her series. If y'all haven't read it yet you need to. The first book is Carpe Demon.

And no, you aren't asking too many questions. I LOVE answering questions. *g*

I would love to watch a show like Demon Island, but would never in a million years could I ever compete.Reading about a kick ass babe is great entertainment though.

As a fan of Julie Kenner, I definitely need to get a copy of this book. Sounds awesome.
Okay question. What or who inspired you to become a writer? Just curious.

Jaci Burton said...

What or who inspired me to become a writer? That's a good question. I think I had the 'bug' to write from the time I was an adolescent. My cousin and I wrote early 'fanfic' for television shows. I wrote poetry and short stories. There were always stories in my head that I had to put on paper.

But it wasn't until I met and married my second husband almost five years ago that I actually finished my first manuscript. I had always dabbled, but life had kept me too busy to tackle it seriously. He encouraged me to follow my dream and I did. :-)
