Paranormal Covers

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

All right, I owe you folks a real blog. And one of my favorite topics is covers. I have stories about ALL my covers from the first printing of HeartMate (one of the first things my editor said was "send photos of cat") to Protector of the Flight coming in February (after review by MANY my Mother, who had cataracts in both eyes at the time said "This horse has no tail." Much scrambling by the art dept.)

I love my "single element" Heart book titles, but know that they can be misleading -- historicals perhaps. Do you all like something on the cover that SCREAMS paranormal or not?

May your reading take you to new lands today,
Robin

I buy so many ebooks that I don't notice covers so much, which is good because some ebook covers are really, really bad. If I am buying a paperback paranormal story, then I do want the cover to reflect the theme somehow, like your covers do.

All your covers are beautiful but I especially love your Luna covers. They're gorgeous!!!

Whether a paranormal romance, a historical romance, romantic suspense etc. I like a cover to invoke the mood of the book.

Covers don't matter to me. I buy by author.

I love all types of covers. I don't base my purchases on covers so it doesn't really matter to me what is on it. I buy by author and story.

I think all of these covers are beautiful though!

I love your heartmate books but if I didn't know better I might mistake them for historicals which I don't read hardly at all. My favorite covers of yours are for your Luna books. They are great well except for the 1st one. To me that looks like a YA book but since it had your name on it I gave it a try and loved it.

I like something that screams magic.:-) I think the best part of a fantasy novel is how different the world is from our own, even if it is our world but has a fantastical twist to it.

For me a cover doesn't have to indicate a paranormal. Even if I don't like the cover I'm still going to buy the book if I want to read it. But your covers are nice and that's just a bonus.

Robin, I remember when I first saw the cover of HEARTMATE. I e-mailed you from Hawaii and told you how much it reminded me of me and my cat. Do you remember? I'm so proud to have that book with the original cover.
"You can't judge a book by it's cover"? That saying is true on so many levels.

PamK, the cover for Guardian was last minute, they had a completely different cover (and I don't think I'm allowed to post, but last time I looked it was on a review site in England or France or somewhere), so the artist had to work fast on the new cover. And that's the brief story...

I like a cover to reflect to some extent what's in the book, even if it's just hinting at it. I like artistic covers. If a cover is well done on a book by an author that I've never read before, I'm more likely to pick it up an read the back. But an author that I usually read, it doesn't matter what the cover really looks like, I'll pick up the book regardless.

All your covers are absolutely beautiful.
