Who's Our Celebrity?

The Stalking Kelly Ripa blog got me started thinking ...

Oprah has her book club, which used to focus on Books That Make You Cry but now is devoted to Books You Probably Had to Read in School. The various morning news shows have their own book clubs, which lean toward serious literary fiction. When Kelly Ripa had her book club, she promoted fun, sexy reads.

Who would be the ideal Out of the Blogosphere celebrity book club host? Which celebrity would champion books about wizards, aliens, time travelers and space pirates?

Sigourny Weaver. Yeah, that's right - top that! Besides the Aliens series, she's got Galaxy Quest. I think that well qualifies her.

I vote for Tom Cruise. Although, I'm not sure he's in the best frame of mind right now.....

Oh, excellent question! I think someone smart and fun, with a fabulous sense of humor. Jennifer Aniston, maybe. You do know I'll be thinking about this all day, right? LOL

I suspect Tom Cruise may actually be an alien.

As for the head of our celebrity book club, I was thinking in terms of someone who has a forum -- a newspaper or magazine column, talk show, regular segment on a news show, that kind of thing. A regular actor/actress would then have to get booked on those kinds of shows in order to promote the club.

Sigourny is a good choice. How about Angelina Jolie of Lara Croft fame?

Or a guy...Jude Law! Not that he'd necessarily be the best candidate, but at least we'd get to work with him. :D

Uh, may I just say Tom Cruise is a short man. That's all I should have to say. Please. Just please.

I agree with Kristen and vote for Sigourney Weaver or possibly Goldie Hawn. Goldie definitely has a sense of humor and she's not an infant.

I'm beginning to suspect Tom Cruise has some serious issues, which is sad for me because I was "in love" with him during my middle/high school years.

As far as an OOTB Celebrity Spokesperson, hmmm.... Should be someone whose kick ass with a good head on their shoulders and knows how to speak in public to get their point across. Think on this, I will.

I vote for Dakota Fanning because she's small, powerful, and used to being abducted by aliens or battling them. She'd make a mighty weapon on our behalf because she could kick the hell out of bad reviewers' chins. I'm behind Dakota all the way. And, of course, she has a kickass name that one day won't be too big for her.

Will Smith. He's big time into saving the world, he does it so much I hear his son is getting fed up with it.

Coming in a bit late on this one- but what about Ellen DeGeneres? She's got the show, the audience, the humor, the dancing.

Dakota Fanning is also a great choice- she's got a spooky vibe, but is also just so darn loveable.

Good question. How about Patrick Stewart? I wonder if I'd be able to talk coherently if he interviewed me.
